Potential plans for a supermarket and new residential flats are proposed for 30 Finnieston Street (currently the PC World/Currys site). At this time no planning application has been submitted.
Please find our initial response below….
“While the Community Council are generally not unfavourable to the prospect of a supermarket within the Finnieston , especially for the convenience of the elderly, it would be important any planning application fully recognise particular local concerns.
The proposed supermarket and flats should not extend beyond the footprint of the existing building and the design and finishes should also be sympathetic to the adjoining conservation area. In terms of height , the Community Council would want to ensure it was not excessive and nearby flats should not be overshadowed.
It is important any new flats are designed with long term residential use in mind especially families as opposed to student or transient types of accommodation . Adequate cycle provision is highly desirable for shoppers along with secure cycle storage for residents . The site should also benefit from 100% parking provision for the new residents.
Local residents will need to be assured that all measures are taken to service the supermarket within the site and neighbours should not be inconvenienced by noise especially during delivery periods. Currently the location is bordered by trees and greenery and we would look for this to be maintained and enhanced.

We would also seek to ensure the concerns of local independent businesses are listened to.”
Update (12th August 2019)
It appears Lidl will be the supermarket for the current PC World/Curry’s and former Staples site, at 30 Finnieston Street.
They currently have an application for provisional off sales licence (GCC2399) submitted with Glasgow City Council.
