As more and more people take up cycling, we want to help make it easier for those residents who cycle to work or, for those delivery cyclists whizzing around our streets. We will shortly be fundraising to secure a free to use bicycle pump.
Following feedback at our meetings and on Facebook we have asked Glasgow City Council to install the pump outside the Big Licks ice cream shop on Argyle Street, by the junction with Kelvinhaugh Street. We would ask all residents to be vigilant for such vandalism as the Community Council is liable for any costs.
Many thanks to Bike for Good and the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund for supporting us.
We are pleased to announce the pump has been installed On Wednesday 14th June 2017. Many thanks to Glasgow Laser for creating the bicycle pump notice.
Update 14th May 2018
We are delighted to announce we have secured new funding to replace the vandalised bike pump on Argyle Street and to introduce a new pump on Bunhouse Road opposite the entrance to Kelvinhall. The Argyle Street pump will move closer to the junction with Kelvinaugh Street, following the introduction of the Next Bike station in 2017.
Update 30th July 2017
Unfortunately, on the evening of 28th July vandals destroyed the bike pump. Thankfully, CCTV has captured the event. At this time Police are searching for the individual(s) responsible. Should this result in a successful prosecution we will be seeking a compensation order to cover the cost for a replacement pump. We will keep you updated.
