In partnership with Glasgow City Council, our Community Council has been successful in advancing our Cycling Village proposal through the first stage of Sustrans Scotland’s Community Links PLUS competition. Funding is anticipated to be in the region of £2-4million.
In the first community led proposal of its kind, it proposes several walking, cycling and public realm improvements for the area, these include:
- the introduction of segregated cycle lanes
- wider pavements
- improved crossing points
- the introduction of active travel, directional signage
- enhanced public realm, including: trees & greening, hard landscaping, seating and artwork
- Investigate a one way system for Derby and Kelvingrove streets, between Argyle and Sauchiehall streets.
Our aim is to make the community a more attractive place to spend time and money.
Our Community Council has already undertaken several positive consultations with the community and we now wish to capture the specific views of you, our traders. We are keen to have your views and ideas from the outset of this project.
