New Play Equipment For Overnewton Park

Overnewton Play Equipment

5th August 2018

Back in 2016, we organised our first Gala Day in support of the three parks within our community – Yorkhill, Overnewton square and Kelvinhaugh Road. Since then we have created the separate charity Yorkhill Green Spaces, and through the hard work and dedication of these fantastic volunteers we have seen park clean up’s, new planting and in conjunction with ourselves, the lobbying of Glasgow City Council to provide better play equipment.

Today, we are pleased to announce that Glasgow City Council have created plans to replace the current slide and swings with a brand new play park for toddlers, complete with surrounding fence and self-closing gate.

Now, we need your views on the plans so this can be fed back to the City Council. if you have any feedback please email

You can view the previous design for the park below (this has changed, see above image)…

Update (7th July 2019)

We are pleased to announce the updated design for play equipment in Overnewton Park, has been sent out for tender by Glasgow City Council. Responding to a resident enquiry we have asked for the City Council to investigate adding a disability swing to the plans.

Update (26th September 2018)

To complement the new play equipment for Overnewton Park we had asked Community Payback to re-paint the railing surrounding the park in the original galvanised appearance, and they have agreed. Painting is expected to occur in Spring 2019 with the material being bought by ourselves.  We will keep you updated.
