New Next Bike Stations Arrive

Following Glasgow City Council’s expansion of Nextbike UK. We are delighted to announce that we will shortly be able to offer our residents two Nextbike stations. This has involved a great deal of hard work and community engagement which we would like to thank you for . The first bike rental station, is located at the junction of Argyle Street and Finnieston Street. The second, is located at the junction of Argyle Street and Kelvinhaugh Street, close to our recently installed ‘free-to-use’ bicycle pump.

Update 29th August 2017

We are excited to announce yet another improvement to our cycling infrastructure! On 11th September work will begin on installing a new NextBike station. The station will be installed at the junction of Argyle Street and Kelvinhaugh Street, by the Sainsbury’s. Bikes will be available to rent from 18th September.

As ever we have worked hard to bring this new addition to our community. Many thank to all those involved and those who voted for this location last year.

The location was chosen as it sits along aside our free to use bicycle pump. Although this was vandalised earlier this month we hope to have its replacement operational shortly.

Update 4th July 2017

Our cycling strategy goes from strength to strength! We are pleased to announce that we will be receiving a new Nextbike station on Kelvinhaugh Street. The only additional station to be installed in the West End. This is fantastic news and compliments the bike pump we have recently had installed less than 100 meters away.

Thanks for everyone who voted for this location in a Facebook post we ran late last year!

Update 5th May 2017

We are pleased as punch to unveil the new Nextbike station at the junction of Minerva Street and Finnieston Street – something we’ve been working hard to secure. This is an additional station and we are hopeful of  securing another Nextbike station on Kelvinhaugh Street. We will find out later this summer. Happy Cycling!

Previous update:

Thank you to everyone who voted. The winning location was the junction of Argyle Street and Kelvinhaugh Road. We have submitted this location to Glasgow City Council for their approval. A decision on whether our area will receive a Nextbike station will be made by Glasgow City Council in late 2017.
